چکیده

Prediction of future values of a shot noise process observed on a discrete lattice of points is considered. The shot magnitudes are assumed to be independent and identically distributed and arrive via a Poisson process; the eeect of each shot dissipates and/or accumulates according to a known shot function. Conditional mean and linear point predictors of future process values are developed. Distributional prediction, obtained through saddle-point approximation of the conditional distributions of the process, is also explored.

Experimental Signature of Registration Noise in Pulsed Terahertz Systems

This letter reports results from time domain measurements in a terahertz pulsed imaging system to demonstrate that a mechanical resetting mechanism in the pump-probe delay stage results in a small but resolvable noise signal. In the setup described here, this effect dominates all other sources of noise such as the background Johnson noise or shot noise, and can hence be isolated and analysed in...

We propose a quantum mechanical approach to noise in resonant tunneling structures, that can be applied in the whole range of transport regimes, from completely coherent to completely incoherent. In both limiting cases, well known results which have appeared in the literature are recovered. Shot noise reduction due to both Pauli exclusion and Coulomb repulsion, and their combined effect, are st...

Optical frequency shot-noise suppression in electron beams: Three-dimensional analysis

A predicted effect of current shot-noise suppression at optical-frequencies in a drifting charged-particle-beam and the corresponding process of particles self-ordering are analyzed in a one-dimensional 1D model and verified by three-dimensional numerical simulations. The analysis confirms the prediction of a 1D single mode Langmuir plasma wave model of longitudinal plasma oscillation in the be...

Fractional shot noise in the kondo regime.

Transport through quantum dots in the Kondo regime obeys an effective low-temperature theory in terms of weakly interacting quasiparticles. Despite the weakness of the interaction, we find that the backscattering current and hence the shot noise are dominated by two-quasiparticle scattering. We show that the simultaneous presence of one- and two-quasiparticle scattering results in a universal a...

Velocity fluctuations of noisy reaction fronts propagating into a metastable state: testing theory in stochastic simulations

The position of a reaction front, propagating into a metastable state, fluctuates because of the shot noise of reactions and diffusion. A recent theory [B. Meerson, P.V. Sasorov, and Y. Kaplan, Phys. Rev. E 84, 011147 (2011)] gave a closed analytic expression for the front diffusion coefficient in the weak noise limit. Here we test this theory in stochastic simulations involving reacting and di...
